Accessible Electromagnetic Simulation for Everyone

Jumping into electromagnetic simulation can feel like a big leap. Let’s face it, learning new software isn’t always easy, and changing tried-and-true workflows is no small task. It’s easy to have anxiety about the learning curve and disrupting routine. But here’s the good news: the payoffs are huge! With simulation, you spot problems early, cut back on prototypes, use materials smarter, and drastically reduce your testing expenses. These benefits quickly add up, saving you serious money, sometimes tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars per project.

Ansys EMC Plus and Ansys Charge Plus are built for ease of use, making them the perfect tools for complex electromagnetic and charging simulations.

“As someone who is relatively new to simulation, EMA3D was a very interesting tool and not one that was very hard to get into,” said EMA Scientist II Nicholas Monteferrante. “I learned most from the first project that I did, just getting in there trying to solve a real-world problem.”

Simplifying Complexity

Ansys EMC Plus is a platform-level electromagnetic modeling and simulation tool, enabling you to seamlessly move from design to validation for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Meanwhile, Ansys Charge Plus brings together electromagnetic, fluid, and particle solvers for powerful multiphysics simulation. Both tools integrate smoothly with Ansys Discovery, letting you import geometry from any CAD format, including Ansys EDB.

With these solutions, you can tackle challenging issues such as electromagnetic interference (EMI) in entire servers or charging and discharging problems in various environments.

“Not having a lot of experience, I was always of the mind that you can’t simulate super complex models,” Monteferrante said. “We’re able to take complex models and simplify them down to the parts that we’re interested in and really simulate trends so that we can see the locations where the problems are occurring and test how to how to mitigate them.”

Unlocking Efficiency and Reliability

Strategic advantages of EMC Plus and Charge Plus simulation are:

  1. Early detection of design flaws
  2. Accelerated time-to-market
  3. Reduced labor and equipment costs
  4. Reduced risk of field failures
  5. Design optimization and innovation

“EMA3D allows us to iterate designs very easily and in a much more efficient way than what would be required if we just had to test the designs that we make in real life on the product.” Monteferrante says. “Being able to run simulations allows you to test a lot of different ideas very quickly.”
